Presenting the podcast of Dr. Ngangbam Shantikumar Meetei and in this episode he shares how he grew up and never gave up to get his education against all the odds he faced growing up in poverty.
This podcast is dedicated to all our student listeners. Listen to how much of struggle and hard work Dr. Ngangbam Shantikumar Meetei went through, never giving up despite his poverty, taking up part-time jobs for minimal pay to get through and support himself focusing to get his education. Again, one of my best story to emphasis that education is very important.

He won 1st positions: Mr. Sub-Junior Manipur(1 time), Mr. Delhi(4 times), Mr. Northern India(3 times), Mr. Northern India Overall title winner(1 time), Mr. Taiwan National(13 times), Taiwan National Games(3 times), Mr. Hong Kong Invitation(1 time), Mr. East Asia(1 time), Mr Senior Asia(1), and most recently, in this month, July 5/6 Dr. Ngangbam Shantikumar Meetei beat the whole world and brought Gold medal for Manipur.
Also, He had competed East Asia (4 times), Senior Asian( 7 times), Asian Games( 2 times, 6th position twice, and Mr. Universe 6 times(2 times 9th place, 3 times 10th place and 1 time 14th place).

Presenting the podcast of Sonia Nepram sharing about making of the Manipuri documentary movie Gun and a God. It is interesting to hear the aspects of making documentary movies in getting closer to the subject, living the life and story. I am proud to see woman director coming up making movies from woman’s point of view. Hats off to the wonderful team of “Gun and a God” in bringing out the voice and story of Purnima. This could have happened to anyone of us.

“Gun and a God” is an endeavor to explore a cosmos of conflict through the lives of women.

Purnima is having the best of her evenings with her inmates in a jail room. Yet her every laughs and giggles are concealing a grave conflict. The visiting hours in the jail are dreadful with no one to visit her. These are the times when she finds herself asking who she is.

Tagged as a “disgraced inheritance”, from an unknown father to a mentally unfit mother, her childhood was chastised. The reality of being an illegitimate child haunts during her teens and when she was married, it crucified her.

A “Gun and a God” is the journey a woman, whose will was forged by the structural violence of her existence, who finally finds her voice in a Gun and justice in a God.

This podcast  (in Meitei-Lon/Manipuri language) details the making of Manipuri animated movie Keibu-kei-oiba (The man who turns into a tiger) which is based on a popular Manipuri folktale by Bhumenjoy Konsam. I watched the movie with my kids. We enjoyed it and loved it. I was amazed that they sat through the whole movies and now they are running all over playing “Thong Handok-o, Thong Handok-o”

This episode is all about the making of the movie Keibu-kei-oiba , Bhumenjoy shares the challenges in making the story as an animated movie, developing, building, designing up each character, each scene creating from a blank frame to creating everything from scratch making the 84 minutes movie. It is amazing to hear about the voice over details for each of the characters.

The whole team put a lot of effort in making this movie, consulting and researching so that it is presented very authentic in terms of music, even the musical instrument and script used. Hats off to the whole team. Thanks for this wonderful gift to the Manipuri community.

In the previous Episode 36 Bhumenjoy Konsam, shared about himself, about how his career shaped from studying from Chemistry to Multimedia, choosing career between a low paying Multimedia job of Rs 2500 versus a Govt. Job as Army officer of Rs 8000. Even though it was a tough path to follow and choose his passion, despite raising eyebrows from people in leaving the traditional path, Bhumenjoy followed his passion.
