May Love, Joy, Peace and Goodwill be your Gift at Christmas. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

Remembering Reverend Father Frigidian Shenoy Aranha on Christmas Day.

Reverend Father Frigidian Shenoy Aranha passed away in Bangalore, India on August 11, 2012. He was 84 years. Father Shenoy was a missionary in Imphal, Manipur for almost 15 years. He started PTC for catechist and started Media Center in Mantri Pukhri for diocesan. His last mission in Manipur is his St. Xavier’s school in Moirang. He has inspired many students in Manipur reaching/helping out to many poor and needy peoples in the villages of Manipur. He left Manipur due to his eye sight as the Doctor recommended him to stay in Bangalore for medical attention. He went almost blind due to glaucoma. During his stay at Bangalore he continued helping and inspiring students from Manipur. We love you Father and we wil miss you forever. We thank you for all your kindness, inspiration and love given to each of us and made a huge difference in our lives. Rest in Peace.
Father Shenoy was my Guardian while I was studying in Bangalore, helped me in many many ways. I would run to him for anything. His advice, inspiration, love and help made a lot of difference in my life in shaping who I am. Thank you Father, I will miss you forever.
We miss you this Christmas.

Remembering Reverend Father Mathew Planthottam (St. Joseph School, Imphal) on Christmas Day. Father Mathew passed away in 2007 but we still remember you fondly and miss you.

Father Mathew Planthottam founded St. Joseph’s School at Sangaiparou, Imphal. He is very popular and well-known for his kindness amongst many people and students in Manipur. It is amazing how much of love, help, Guidance he gave and have changed people’s life in ways you cannot imagine !!! And he did this irrespective of whether you are a Christian or not, rich or poor … His heart was so huge to give out so much love, and positive changes into people’s life !!!  He was never tired of teaching right values and morals … And it was because of his influence and teaching that shaped me into what I am today. We miss you this Christmas.

I really appreciate all his work and also all the work of all the Fathers and Sisters (Little Flower School, Imphal, St. Joseph School, Imphal and many more …) doing what they do changing people’s life in a positive way facing all the struggles and challenges in Manipur.  Thank you !!

As we celebrated Thanksgiving, it reminded me of the time how we use to cook …

Growing up We had used firewood for cooking in a very basic simple kitchen. We still use it now too though we have the choice of cooking using gas (depending on the availability of getting gas in Imphal) …

I remember my mother making cow dung for fuel and we use to help her. My mother fondly remember my sister helping her making cow dung for fuel (Shunthi Saba) with her little fingers as she says. It would be kept out in the sun for drying and we would run to collect and save it in case it starts raining … If we see cowdung on the road, I remember collecting it or running to tell Ema …

I remember seeing Ema with a pipe which is used for blowing the smoke while cooking and at times tears would roll down because of the smokes coming out ….It was a big celebration when our Grandmother gifted us with a hand blower which made it easier to blow the air and make the firewood burn easier.

Baba would cut the firewood using the axe. I remember him telling in a homourous way that is a way of him doing the work & exercise too.

And finally we did upgrade to cooking with Gas and Ema (my mother) was very very happy, always keeping the Gas stove spick and span ….. But till today we do have our cooking place for cooking with firewood where we enjoy cooking & roasting fish.
