During the early 70’s, Dr. Nabakanta passed on an opportunity to get enrolled in one of the top medical colleges in India due to financial reasons and instead studied in Manipur Medical College (now RIMS). Commenting on this, he says,
It was my tragedy, but it was my destiny! and he is right, for he became
one of the finest specialists in Manipur. He says that getting selected by
the Manipur Public ServiceCommission and getting blindly posted in the family planning department was the turning point of his career.
In this episode, we discuss about the status of women’s reproductive rights particularly in Manipur and the difference in medical facilities between the hilly areas and the valley.
