About “1001Thagatchari” Gratitude project for Manipur

One of the takeaway I had interviewing many of the awesome talented voices of Manipur for the last 5 years was the lack of recognition and appreciation for their work and contribution. In the midst of conflicts, unrest and media’s focus for sensational stories, we have forgotten to say “Thank you” “Thagatchari”.

To change that I have challenged myself to find people who truly have appreciation and gratitude in their heart and the idea of “1001 Thagatchari” was seeded.

As a result of 1001 gratitude project, the much needed recognition and appreciation for the people will be elevated and we will re-learn to express our gratitude adding “Thagatchari” “Thank you” in our top list of vocabulary. I believe that this exercise of expressing gratitude as part of this project will enrich, expand and empower all of us and also contribute in building the strength of our community.

In the midst of conflicts, unrest and media’s focus for sensational stories, we have forgotten to express recognition and appreciation. To change that, I am looking for 1001 people to be a part of the movement to pause and express gratitude for the people of Manipur? Do you know anyone? Are you one of the 1001 people?

Contact us to be a part of this project and be a part of change. I welcome you to join us live and participate with your comments/questions as we are co creating our show Facebook FindingTheVoices Community Group.

Today, I had the 5th session of “1001 Thagatchari” project with Nameirakpam Malemnganba Meitei joining me from Stavropol, Russia. A beautiful way to start the day hearing expressions of gratitude and such love for a mother, a mother who works hard till midnight making “Nimki” (snacks in Manipur) to sell, and raise her family sending her son for education with the dream of him becoming a Doctor. These are the stories, stories of Manipur where our roots are our inspiration to strive and bring out the best in us. For a person who have contributed for Manipur, Malemnganba nominated Urmila Chanam who has changed the way people think and talk of menstruation with her campaign to break the silence. And for the person at the global level, he nominated Jamie L, medical student and YouTube channel host of TheSTRIVETOFIT sharing about med school and fitness.

I am really loving the high energy “1001 Thagatchari” series is bringing on and am looking forward for the next one.  I invite you to watch his amazing expressions.

#5 Saya Okram, Freelance Researcher, PhD in Public Health.

Today, I had the third session of “1001 Thagatchari” project with Saya Okram joining me from Thoubal, Manipur, India. This is the second attempt we tried to record the show as we had internet connectivity issue the first time. And I am so happy that we had a very good connection today and we recorded the entire video podcast in one shot. Saya shared about her learnings of humanity, humility, gift of life from the beautiful girls at Sabarmati Ashram Gujarat, girls who are disowned by their own family. For a person who have contributed for Manipur, Saya nominated me, yes me for initiating the much needed gratitude project. Trust me I didn’t bribe her to nominate me 🙂 And for the person at the global level, she nominated The Dalai Lama and she has seen him many times, not just once.

Saya did a Solo Backpacking travelling to many places around the globe and I have invited her to come back to our 101 Voices show and share about her experiences.

I am really loving the high energy “1001 Thagatchari” series is bringing on and am looking forward for the next one.  I invite you to watch her amazing expressions in her video podcast.
