061 It’s all in the mind : Fly away

Fly away
Fly away,
Fly away anywhere,
There is no place for you,
Not in one’s heart,
Not in one’s mind,
Not in one’s soul,
Haven’t you heard enough ?
Haven’t you seen enough ?
Haven’t you felt enough ?
Whatever step you take,
You will be the wrong one,
Fly away,
Fly away anywhere.

060 It’s all in the mind : The survival race

The survival race

Raised within walls of home and school,
Learning to duck and lie flat to avoid being hit by bullets as a child,
Shipped away from home to get continous education,
With dreams of living,
Away from schools with empty benches,
For the students in uniform are protesting on the roads,
Away from kidnappers,
Away from letchers and rapist,
Away from bandhs and blockades,
To be ahead in the survival race,
For many ends up in the hands with sick minds,
Leaving one as a corpse in one’s own land,
With no justice.

Facing the survival race once again,
Gulping humiliations and mockery,
Questioning identity,
Changing wardrobe to blend in,
To avoid dirty looks,
With aching heart filled with homesickness,
With long nights missing home,
Staying low and quiet,
To be ahead in the survival race,
For many ends up in the hands of sick minds,
Leaving one as a corpse,
Corpse sent back in one’s own land,
With no justice.

059 It’s all in the mind : Take me home

Take me home

Sitting in a standstill traffic,
By the George Washington Parkway,
Watching the Washington monument,
Watching the lone flight in the sky,
Hits me with a pang to be home,
Take me home,
To watch my mother’s morning worship,
To watch my father walking around,
To listen to them fussing over silly matters,
To breathe the same air and see what you see,
To eat the same meal,
To be together,
Just to be with you and you,
Home is where you are,
Oh, how much I miss home,
Take me home.

058 It’s all in the mind : The Stench

The Stench

One sees the white waves,
Giving one an illusion of pureness,
Blinding and fooling one in close sight,
With such bright white waves,
Luring one to jump in,
As one stood mesmerized,
Unsure of such existence of beauty,
Only to find onself sucked in,
Into the rotten black hole,
Filled with stain, stench and disgust.

057 It’s all in the mind : Beautiful

Beautiful

When one encounters with the basics,
Beautiful music ringing in one’s ear,
Melting one’s hardened heart,
Discovering unconditional,
Discovering a whole different level of beautiful,
And nothing can take away this feeling,
The feeling away and above the materialistic world.

S02E08 FindingTheVoices : What made these women leave their home ?

S02E08 FindingTheVoices : What made these women leave their home ?

Guest Speaker : Women of “The Raja Dumbra Singh Women’s Home”
Language: Manipuri/Meiteilon

Interview Location: Imphal, Manipur, India.

We visited “The Raja Dumbra Singh Women’s Home” in Imphal Manipur and spent special moments listening to their voices sharing their story on “What made these women leave their home ?” Each of their story is unique but is a story resonating the life of many women.

And as always, the camera is rolling and magically they shared their story from their heart, giving me speechless moments, not knowing how to react. And one is left with many question “In the modern world of Gender equality, is there a place for woman after her husband pass away ? How about woman who couldn’t become a mother ? How difficult is it to survive as a single woman ? How about the generation gap with the modernization and change in food habits ? How tolerant are we towards each other ?” Watch these woman share their stories in their own words.

056 It’s all in the mind : The Storm

The Storm

Starting with a playful drizzle,
Followed by the heavy rains,
Blinding and clouding one’s vision,
Hypnotizing one into a different world,
Fooling one with a false image,
Uprooting trees and bruising flowers,
Leaving with violent thunder and lightning,
Putting one in a trance,
And slowly everything seems crystal clear,
It was the storm,
And the storm never stays.

055 It’s all in the mind : Angry Clouds

Angry Clouds
Clouds filled with anger,
Roaring loud with incomprehensible sounds,
Venting the unbearable heaviness,
Darkening every existence,
Determined to wipe out any light.

Soon followed by the rains,
Heavy rains blocking all visibility,
Leaving one with the instinct,
Melting away all the angers with the touch of the rain,
But one wouldn’t admit keeping up with the guarded pride.
